Strategic Directions 2007 - 2012

This Strategic Directions document for Diabetes Australia – Vic builds on our previous work and has a focus on the opportunities that present to us, and the challenges that confront us, over the next five years.

This document is the product of a review and consultation process that sought the views of board members, management, staff and stakeholders and incorporated an analysis of documentation relating to evaluation and performance.

Based on evidence, experience and insight, our thinking will be guided and our decisions informed by the strategic framework which is the centre piece of this document.

The framework provides direction for where we devote effort and resources and for what we can do to reduce the impact of diabetes in the community. It is also intended as a useful and usable reference point and communication tool for all staff and stakeholders of our organisation.

The strategy is neither static nor exclusionary. Its intention is to keep our focus, our attention, and our resources directed to our priorities.

It has been created to be flexible enough to respond to emerging issues as they arise and with the expectation that many new programs and initiatives will emerge in coming years, to support our strategic priorities.

Business plans, incorporating operational objectives, timelines, targets, performance indicators and budgets will be developed on an annual basis.
